Comment préparer sa peau au soleil : les conseils 100% naturels

How to prepare your skin for the sun: 100% natural advice

Summer is approaching… and so is the sun! To avoid sunburn and prepare for UV exposure on our skin, there are a few 100% natural tips, whether through diet or skincare. Of course, in addition to these tips, you should apply a high-SPF sunscreen to protect yourself from the harmful effects of the sun when you are in direct contact with it, during tanning sessions or outings to the beach.

Let’s not wait any longer — here are a few tips to prepare your skin for the sun

Carrot: an ideal food to prepare your skin for the sun

Carrots are naturally rich in beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant that helps the skin’s mucous membranes by protecting them from cellular aging, which is promoted by excessive UV exposure. Beta-carotene is also found in other fruits and vegetables such as sweet potato, spinach, tomato, mango, and bell pepper. You can eat carrots to properly prepare your skin for the sun, but you can also benefit from their properties by making a carrot macerate to apply over your whole body before a UV session or sun exposure. The carrot macerate will give your skin radiance and promote tanning.

Preparing carrot macerate to give your skin radiance in the sun

  1. Cut the carrots into sticks and peel them: try to keep the skin, as the most interesting properties of the carrot are found there
  2. Let your carrots dry to extract their water. Place them on a dry cloth for at least 3 hours
  3. Place your carrots in a glass jar: sprinkle the carrots with oil, then close the jar and keep it away from light
  4. 3 to 4 weeks later, you can open the jar to retrieve the carrot oil and apply this oil to your skin before and after UV exposure.

Increase your intake of vitamins and antioxidants!

It is important to supply your body with vitamins and antioxidants, because these are what will allow you to drastically reduce the harmful effects of the sun on your skin. Since vitamins and antioxidants are present in most of the foods we eat, you should take care of your diet by eating a variety of foods in a balanced way. Favor fatty fish rich in vitamin A, fruits and vegetables such as oranges, kiwis, strawberries, tomatoes and bell peppers, which are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, and vegetable oils like hazelnut, olive or rapeseed oil, which contain vitamin E.

Some dietary supplements in capsule form are enriched with vitamins A, C or E and will allow you to top up your vitamins in addition to a balanced diet.

Keep yourself hydrated before exposing your skin to the sun

Whether by drinking plenty of water or by moisturizing your skin with scrubs and nourishing creams, hydration is the key before exposing your skin to the sun. Drink at least 1 liter of water per day, especially in summer, and remember to nourish your skin with natural treatments: you can try the Imminence Nourishing Body and Hand Milk 500ml refillable from Terre de Mars, for example. Enriched with antioxidants, this body lotion will be ideal for preparing your skin to the sun or after sun exposure on dry skin.

Urucum: a tanning stimulator for beautiful skin in the sun

Urucum will help prepare your skin for sun exposure: it contains a higher content of beta-carotene than the carrot, making it an excellent supplement for your skin. Urucum, like carrot, will stimulate melanin production in your body and help activate your tan, while protecting your skin and your body from the harmful effects of the sun.
