Comment préparer sa peau au soleil : les conseils 100% naturels

How to prepare your skin for the sun: 100% natural advice

Summer is approaching… and so is the sun! To help prevent sunburn and prepare your skin for UV damage, there are a few 100% natural tips, whether through diet or skincare. Of course, in addition to these tips, you should apply a high-SPF sunscreen to protect yourself from the harmful effects of the sun when you are in direct contact with it, during tanning sessions or trips to the beach.

Let’s not wait any longer, and here are a few tips to prepare your skin for the sun

Carrots: an ideal food to prepare your skin for the sun

Carrots are naturally rich in beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the skin’s mucous membranes from cellular aging, which is encouraged by excessive UV exposure. Beta-carotene is also found in other fruits and vegetables such as sweet potatoes, spinach, tomatoes, mangoes, and peppers. You can eat carrots to help prepare your skin for the sun, but you should also know that you can enjoy their benefits by making a carrot macerate to apply all over your body before a UV session or sun exposure. Carrot macerate will brighten your skin and promote tanning.

How to prepare carrot macerate to give your skin a radiant glow in the sun

  1. Cut the carrots into sticks and peel them: remember to keep the peel, because that is where the carrot’s most interesting properties are found
  2. Let your carrots dry to remove the water. Place them on a dry towel for at least 3h
  3. Place your carrots in a glass jar: sprinkle the carrots with oil, then close the jar and keep it away from light
  4. 3 to 4 weeks later, you can open the jar to recover the oil from your carrots and apply this oil to your skin before and after UV exposure.

Increase your intake of vitamins and antioxidants!

It is important to give your body vitamins and antioxidants, because these are what will help you drastically reduce the harmful effects of the sun on your skin. Since vitamins and antioxidants are found in most of the foods we eat, you need to take care of your diet by eating a varied, balanced diet. So choose oily fish rich in vitamin A, fruits and vegetables such as oranges, kiwis, strawberries, tomatoes, and peppers, rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, and vegetable oils such as hazelnut, olive, or rapeseed oil, which contain vitamin E.

Some capsule supplements are enriched with vitamins A, C, or E, allowing you to top up on vitamins in addition to a balanced diet.

Stay hydrated to expose your skin to the sun

Whether by drinking plenty of water or moisturizing your skin with scrubs and nourishing creams, the key before exposing your skin to the sun is hydration. Drink at least 1 liter of water per day, especially in summer, and remember to nourish your skin with natural care products: you can try the Imminence Nourishing Body and Hand Lotion 500ml Refillable from Terre de Mars for example. Enriched with antioxidants, this body lotion will be ideal for preparing your skin to the sun or after sun exposure on dry skin.

Urucum: a tanning booster for beautiful skin in the sun

Urucum will help prepare your skin for sun exposure: it contains a higher level of beta-carotene than carrots, making it an excellent supplement for your skin. Like carrots, urucum stimulates the production of melanin in your body and helps activate your tan, while protecting your skin and your body from the harmful effects of the sun.
