3 fall DIY

Autumn, the season of nature's beautiful colors: red, orange, yellow! Why not decorate your home and have fun with these colors with some fall DIYs ? Here are three ideas.1. A recipe in autumn colors

Have you ever heard of Rüeblitorte ? This carrot cake, originally from Switzerland, will delight your taste buds with this fall DIY. Carrots are also good for your skin, just like coffee. So, here's the recipe for this iconic Swiss cake.

Ingredients

– 300g of carrots

  • 300g of ground almonds
  • 4 eggs
  • 200g of sugar
  • 60g of flour
  • A teaspoon of baking powder
  • Half a lemon
  • A pinch of salt
  • Equipment n a springform pan about 24cm in diameter
  • A vegetable peeler
  • A mixing bowl
  • A citrus juicer

To make this cake, preheat your oven to 180°, then grease and flour the pan so the cake comes out easily. Turn the pan upside down to shake off the excess flour. Next, peel and grate the carrots. Add the lemon juice and zest to the grated carrots.

Beat the egg yolks and sugar until fluffy, then gently fold in the carrots, flour, almonds, salt, and baking powder. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the mixture in the bowl. Pour the batter into the pan and bake the cake for 50 to 60 minutes at 180°. Once the cake is ready, let it cool. And there you have it, your autumn recipe is ready to serve and enjoy!

2. An autumn wreath DIY

Wreaths are the perfect fall DIY. As beautiful as it is original, you can play with the colors of your 100% natural autumn wreath… To make it, you'll need a pair of pruning shears, a metal ring 30 cm in diameter, and a roll of wire. For the foliage, choose autumn-colored leaves, ivy, and colorful berries. There are, of course, several ways to make a wreath, so have fun with the greenery!

First, take your metal ring. Then, cut the plant material into pieces about 20 centimeters long, and make small bunches of ivy and mixed foliage to attach to the frame with the wire. Always place the branches in the same direction. Once you've covered the metal ring, wrap the wire around the branches several times, then lift the leaves to hide the wire and the ring. Finally, before adding berries or other greenery to the foliage, make sure everything is securely attached by turning the wreath over.

And there you have it, your autumn wreath is ready to be placed in the middle of a table or hung on a door. If you want to keep this fall DIY for a long time, leave it outside; the cold helps preserve the plants.

3. An original fall DIY idea: a pumpkin vase

Autumn favorites, pumpkins are perfect for our kitchens, but also for decorating/  Pretty indoors and out, a pumpkin vase is perfect for a fall DIY, and you won't need much to make one. Cut the top off a pumpkin and scoop it out. To slow down the pumpkin's decay, wear gloves and wipe the inside with a cloth soaked in bleach. Place a plate at the bottom of the pumpkin before adding a pot of autumn flowers. The plate will catch any excess water. However, if you're using cut flowers, put them in a vase of water first, then place it inside the pumpkin. This decoration is perfect for a special occasion or for a few days!
