Pourquoi privilégier pour une garde-robe plus écologique

Why favor for a more ecological wardrobe

Natural materials are in style! And what better way to dress than while respecting the environment and ecology? Raw materials have a major impact on the environment. That is why we explain in this article why it is time to choose natural materials for your wardrobe, and we give you 3 of our favorite materials.
Why choose natural materials for your wardrobe?
Just as strong and comfortable as synthetic textile fibers such as polyamides, made from oil, or polyester, natural materials will not only be pleasant to wear, but they will also help preserve our environment by greatly reducing greenhouse gas emissions, of which the fashion industry emits no less than 1.2 billion each year.
Natural materials such as organic cotton, linen, or hemp are pleasant to the touch and do not undergo polluting chemical treatments such as chlorine bleaching or heavy-metal dyes. Whether for your shoes, bags, or clothing, eco-friendly materials have more to offer.

1. Linen in your wardrobe

Linen is one of the natural materials most popular: moreover, it is one of the most environmentally friendly materials. Flax cultivation produces no waste, since every part of the plant will later be used. Linen is 100% biodegradable: your linen clothing can be composted when you no longer use it. Linen is also very strong and durable, which will help you keep your clothes longer without them wearing out or tearing. Finally, linen is extremely comfortable to wear: soft to the touch, you will quickly see that it has nothing to envy from synthetic materials.

2. Organic cotton in your wardrobe

Cotton is a preferred material for making our clothes: it is soft, warm, and pleasant to wear. But did you know that cotton is chemically modified? Cotton comes from the cotton plant, a shrub with large flowers. This plant produces fruit in the form of pods, which contain seeds wrapped in cotton balls. The cotton fiber is obtained from the seed: unfortunately, cotton fiber very often undergoes chemical processing such as chlorine bleaching or dyeing.

By contrast, organic cotton is first sourced from a certified environment with no use of pesticides or insecticides, no GMOs or colorants, and no bleaching processes. In addition, it is made with much less water than conventional cotton that is not certified organic. Thanks to its sourcing and the production of organic cotton, the impact on climate change is cut in half: organic cotton is therefore an ideal alternative to your traditional cotton clothing. Organic cotton is not only good for the environment, but it is also good for your skin: your skin can finally breathe thanks to a 100% natural material.

3. Hemp in your wardrobe

Hemp comes from the Cannabis Sativa plant, in the cannabaceae family. The fibers found in the stem of this plant are used to make clothing, but also ropes and thermal insulation. Hemp has many benefits and properties:

· Hemp is a thermoregulating material: it protects you from the cold and wicks away heat. By wearing hemp clothing, you will be neither too hot in summer nor too cold in winter.

· Hemp absorbs moisture: hemp clothing dries quickly and the dye lasts longer. Fungi or mold will not be able to develop in it, unlike the materials traditionally used in our clothing.

· Hemp is a durable material: the fabric can last for years without fraying or tearing.

· Hemp has antibacterial properties: bacteria will not settle in the fiber, which would drastically reduce the risk of infection and bad odors.

Luxury brands have recently taken the initiative to design ranges of clothing made from natural materials, such as dresses and even hemp shoes. Linen is widely available: you can easily find linen clothing in major retailers, which makes things much easier for you.

To contribute on a larger scale to reducing waste and pollutants in the environment, choosing eco-friendly, Made in France, cruelty free, and vegan products is also beneficial for you and the planet.
